The mighty Colosseum! Hard to believe that that 50,000 people would come here for performances which more often than not included the slaying of many animals. Contary to popular belief the gladiators did NOT fight here. We've all seen the movies where the gladiators fight, one falls and the emperor gives a thumbs up or down. That happened in the ruins and arenas around the colosseum not inside. 

This beautiful hall is in the Vatican. This is one of the main halls leading towards the Sistine Chapel.  

These were the ruins near the Colosseum in Rome. Hard to believe these things are over 2000 years old and still standing.
